My parents have been in foster care for a good 10 years now, since I was 11, so I have been an older brother (rather than being the youngest of 6) off and on for quite a while. Sharing your parents with strangers isn't always easy, at any age. Furthermore, the fading border of who and what is family is not an easy phenomenon to process.
